Floor and Wall Tiling
Flooring and tiling cover laying tiles on floors and walls, in a whole home or a single room. The work fits when old tiles are cracked or loose, when a kitchen or bathroom is being replaced, or when you want a different look underfoot. Arka lays floor and wall tile across the center and south, from Rishon LeZion to Be'er Sheva.
What the job covers
- Old tiles lifted and the debris taken out of the room
- The base checked, with dips and bumps leveled
- A tile layout planned before anything is set
- Floor tiles laid and wall tiles fixed
- Cuts around drains, pipes and door frames
- Grout filled and the tile faces cleaned
- Tile baseboards along the walls and transitions between rooms
Good to know
The first decision is whether to lift the existing floor or tile over it. Tiling over old tiles only works when they are firm and level, and it raises the floor. That affects the doors, the step into other rooms and the threshold to the balcony. During the visit Arka checks the floor, taps the tiles to find hollow spots, and you decide on the approach together.
A good layout starts from the point you see first, which is the doorway into the room. From there the cut tiles are planned so no thin slivers end up along a wall or in a door opening. For wall tile in a kitchen or bathroom, the height and the line where the tile stops are fixed in advance, along with where outlets and faucets fall against the joints. Straight joints along the longest wall in the room are the first thing the eye catches.
Buy tiles from a single production batch, and order a little more than the measured area to cover cuts and breakage. Keep a few spare tiles for a future repair. Clear the room completely before work starts, because lifting tile is loud and dusty. After grouting, the grout needs time to set before anyone walks on the floor or moves furniture back. If there are old wooden baseboards or stone thresholds, decide in advance whether they stay.

Questions about Flooring and tiling
Sometimes. If the old tiles are firm, well bonded and level, new tiles can be set on top of them. The floor gets higher, so doors and transitions have to be checked. Hollow or cracked tiles mean lifting the floor. This is checked at the visit.
Flooring is the tile underfoot, and wall tiling is the tile on vertical surfaces, such as behind a kitchen counter or around a shower. Wall tile is set on a vertical face, so where it ends and how it meets the ceiling, the window and the cabinets is planned first.
The area is measured at the visit, and an extra margin is added for cuts and breakage. A diagonal layout or very large tiles need a bigger margin. Order everything from the same production batch, because the shade can shift slightly from one batch to the next.
