Parquet and Laminate Flooring
Parquet and laminate give a room a floor that looks and feels warmer than tile, and both are laid as a floating floor over the existing one, without lifting it. It is a way to redo a bedroom, living room or whole home with none of the wet work of tiling. Arka installs laminate and engineered wood floors across the center and south, from Rishon LeZion to Be'er Sheva.
What the job covers
- The floor checked for flatness and low spots filled
- Underlay laid under the boards
- Click-together boards with an expansion gap along the walls
- Cuts around door frames, pipes and columns
- Matching baseboards that cover the gap
- Transition strips where the new floor meets tile
- Interior doors trimmed if they rub on the new floor
Good to know
Before choosing, know the difference. Laminate is a dense fiberboard with a printed top layer, and it stands up well to scratches. Engineered wood is built in layers with real wood on top, and it feels warmer underfoot. Neither belongs in a bathroom or anywhere water sits on the floor. At the visit you go through the rooms together and decide which type suits each one.
A floating floor needs a flat base. At the visit Arka checks the floor with a long straightedge, and any dips or raised tiles are dealt with before the boards go down. The boards are not glued to the floor. They lock into each other and rest on the underlay. A small gap is left along every wall because wood moves with humidity, and the baseboards hide it. Pipes coming up through the floor are marked beforehand so the boards can be cut around them neatly.
The new floor sits a few millimeters higher, so every door that swings over it is checked in advance. If a door will rub, it is trimmed from the bottom. Bring the boxes home a few days before installation and leave them closed in the room, so the boards adjust to the indoor temperature. Move the furniture out, and lift any glued-down carpet beforehand.
How it works

Walk-through together
When the work is finished, we walk through it with you, room by room, and look together at everything that was done.
Questions about Parquet and laminate
Yes, when the tiles are firm and the floor is flat. That is one reason to choose it: there is no tile to break up, and no wet work or demolition dust. Loose tiles or large height differences are fixed before the underlay goes down.
Laminate is a dense board with a photo of wood under a clear wear layer, and it handles scratches well. Engineered wood is layered with a top layer of real wood, so it has the look and touch of timber. Both install in a similar way, and the choice comes down to the room and how it is used.
The floor rises by the thickness of the board and the underlay. A door that cleared the old tile by a small margin can start to drag on the new surface. In that case the door is taken off its hinges, trimmed at the bottom and hung back in place.
