Drywall Partition Walls
A partition wall is a new drywall wall built inside the existing space, without touching the structural walls. It can split a large living room into two rooms, create a home office or close off a corner for storage. Arka builds partition walls across the center and south, from Rishon LeZion to Be'er Sheva.
What the job covers
- The wall line marked on the floor and the ceiling
- Metal tracks and studs fixed to the floor, ceiling and side walls
- Mineral wool inside the wall to cut noise
- Backing in the wall for shelves, a TV or a cabinet
- A door frame and an opening at the size you choose
- Boards on both sides, filler and sanding to a paint-ready finish
Good to know
Before deciding where the wall runs, check what it does to both sides. Each new room needs light, air and a reach of air conditioning, and it is easy to leave the window and the unit on one side only. During the visit Arka walks the space with you, marks the possible line and shows how each side will look once the wall stands. Where the door sits in the wall also shapes the furniture layout in both rooms.
An empty drywall wall carries sound. If one side will be a bedroom or an office, the cavity between the boards is filled with mineral wool, and a second layer of board can be added. That choice is made before the second side is closed, because adding insulation later means opening the wall again. Keep in mind that sound also travels through the door gap and above the ceiling, not only through the wall.
Anything that will hang on the new wall needs backing inside it. A bookshelf, a TV, a wall cabinet or a heavy coat rack calls for a timber batten or a doubled stud in exactly the right spot. Bring a list to the visit of what you want to hang, at what height and on which side. Socket and switch positions on the new wall are settled at this stage too. That way each piece of backing lands exactly where the item will be.

Scope and timing agreed
Together we agree on what the work includes and when it happens. The job starts from that shared plan, with both sides knowing what was agreed.

The work is carried out as agreed. Questions that come up along the way, about a material or a change, go to you before we continue.
Walk-through together
When the work is finished, we walk through it with you, room by room, and look together at everything that was done.
Questions about Partition walls
Yes. The frame leaves an opening sized to the door you choose, and both sides of the opening are reinforced so the jamb carries the weight of the door. A pocket door that slides into the wall needs a special frame, so it is decided before building starts.
Yes, when it is planned ahead. Backing goes inside the wall at the spot where the item will hang, and the bracket is screwed into it. Without backing, the board alone is not suited to heavy items. That is why the list for the visit should include everything you plan to mount.
A full partition runs from floor to ceiling and makes a separate room. A partial one, such as a half-height wall, a wall with a wide opening or a niche, marks out an area without cutting it off. The right shape is chosen together at the visit, based on the light and how the room is used.
